Blog Freeze

I have fallen behind on my blogging for good reason...Here it is...

I had a training for my job, Parents as Teachers, last week. Now usually they are pretty boring, blah, blah, blah, stuff we have heard before. BUT this speaker we had really made me think, and will make all of you think too.
We had an FBI agent from the Child Pornography division speak to us about the DANGERS of the Internet. Now I know that it can be dangerous because there are so many predators out there, but this guy really scared me! He got on his soap box and said he HATES Facebook, Blogger, Myspace, Twitter and some others I hadn't even heard of. How easy is it for predators to find us? He said it could be a picture of our kids in a school t-shirt, google the school, lurk outside the school, find out our routine, follow us home and then move in for an attack. Now I know to always be cautious and careful. But this really made me think! So I've been a little frozen on what to post next! I think I'm going to have to make my blog private. But at the same time it makes me angry! Why should I have to be so careful! Why is there so much evil in the world? I pray for the safety of my family daily. But I find it sad that we have to be so cautious...

Speaking of things that make me angry...I'm so irritated by the government these days! I feel like they are trying to takeover everything! There are senators switching parties, Obama appoligizing to all of these countries for what he thinks are the United States past mistakes...What about unity? Aren't all U.S. presidents playing for the same team...What's best for us? I feel a bit betrayed right now. I feel like the government doesn't even care what the people want right now. They just go ahead and do what "THEY" think is best for us. Well guess what! We are not children! We are grown adults who for the most part can make great decisions! It has sure made me get my ducks in a row as far as food storage and protection for my family.

Here is the other thing I need to vent about...The "SWINE FLU". I understand it could turn into something big. But 35,000 people die of the flu in the U.S every year! The media telling us to wash our hands and cover our coughs with our elbow...REALLY??? This is something I teach in my Preschool! Once again I feel like the media and government are treating us as children. Maybe I'm overthinking this....

So those are some of my thoughts today...I'll get back to my normal blogging routine now!

Yeah the online stuff can be scary. I have thought the same thoughts, but decided to stay public and just try to be careful.

I agree on the Swine Flu. I think the whole thing is weird. How big of a deal they make it. I guess it is good just because you might dismiss it as the common flu and not see the doctor. But the flu does kill.

It is important to be careful on the internet. I'm probably not as careful as I should be, either. But I don't really like Facebook - for some reason, I feel a little too exposed. I just don't like it.

I have a friend who won't use real names on her blog. She calls her kids by nicknames. Probably not a bad idea. I've also thought about going to a "private blog," like you. That's another reason why I haven't listed my "friends" blog links on my blog page. I kinda don't want people to be "wandering" on over to my blog without me giving my blog address out to them myself. But I know it happens because my blog address is on lots of other friends' blogs. Another thing, is to NOT list people's full names on your "friends/family" blog links. First names are a little more anonymous. Anyway, just some ideas to be a little safer and keep friends/family safe.

It IS scary with all the weirdos and crazies out there. You just never know when something bad might happen to you. I mean - I've had 4 fraudulent things happen to me with my credit/debit cards and checkbook just in the last 8 months of living in Texas. And I didn't loose them!

Hi Amber! Your new puppy is adorable! And that is awesome you do Parents as Teachers, I joined this year. Too bad you can't be Bailey's visitor. :) I have really enjoyed it so far. That is super scarey about the predator thing. I agree, it seems like everything is scarey and dangerous nowadays. I always say the same thing, why does there have to be so much evil and psycho people out there? Good info to learn from. Thanks for posting.
